Officers have been investigating the deaths of two men that both took place in north west London just under four miles away on Friday (December 19).
The first incident was reported at 9.35pm after a man, 55, was shot dead on West End Close, Stonebridge.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers and no further injuries were reported.
Then in just seven minutes, police were called again, his time to Tollgate House in Tollgate Gardens, next to Kilburn High Road at 9.42pm.
A 40-year-old man was found with stab injuries and he was taken to hospital where he died.
Since the news broke yesterday (December 20), locals in the vicinity of Brent have questioned whether the two incidents were potentially related.
However, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson has clarified: “There’s nothing to suggest they’re linked.”
At the time of reporting, no arrests have been made for either incident.
The identities of both victims have not been shared at this stage.

Officers remain at the A404 Hillside in Stonebridge as an investigation is ongoing.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John from the Met’s Specialist Crime Team, believes that a large group of people congregated at the time of the Stonebridge shooting.
Anyone with information of the shooting are asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 8120/19DEC25. For those with information on the stabbing people are asked to quote CAD 8182/19DEC25.

Alarming gun crime in north west
In July, the Brent & Kilburn Times reported that Brent had the fourth highest number of reported this year.
Latest stats however show that the situation in Brent has worsened.
Now Brent has 82 gun crime offences recorded between January and November this year, making it the second highest borough in London.
Enfield has the most gun crime reported, with 94 offences.
Below Brent is Croydon, with 80 offences.
However in Brent, gun crime offences have gone down by 2.2 per cent this year compared to November 2024.
