Police were called to reports of a man making threats at a school in St Andrews Road just before 3pm yesterday (October 9).
It is understood that multiple schools in the area took measures as a precaution to protect children.
Officers attended and the man was taken to hospital with the incident stood down in the afternoon.
In one email sent by Royal Park Academy, one of the schools that took precautionary action, claimed there was a “serious situation” after a “potential threat within the local area”.
It added: “The safety of our children and staff is always our number one priority.
“Out of an abundance of caution and in conjunction with police advice, we have enacted a partial lockdown.
“All children and staff are currently safe inside the building.
“We are working closely with the police who are investigating the matter and advising us on next steps.”
