Police were called to reports of a disturbance in Ridley Road on Tuesday (November 11) at 10.30am.
At the scene, an officer was stabbed to his arm and hand, as well as suffering a fracture to his hand.
He was taken to hospital for treatment, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening and non-life-changing.
The officer was later discharged.
A 62-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.
The suspect was taken into custody, where he remains.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said that nobody else was injured in the incident.
However, a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said that a second person was treated at the scene by paramedics, but was discharged.
It is unclear what kind of injuries the second person had.
