Around 40,000 fans descend on the All England Club per day across two weeks at the beginning of July, and the grass-court Grand Slam remains one of the only sporting events in the world where tickets can be purchased on the day of play.
Those dedicated spectators willing to brave The Queue, which can include camping overnight, may be rewarded with prime spots on Centre Court or Court 1 for the first 10 days of the Championships. Around 1,000 are dealt out every day – with the queue often reaching in the region of 10,000 hopeful punters.

But as any tennis enthusiast will know, the most common way to buy tickets is through the Wimbledon public ballot. The practice has been around since 1924 to ensure that people have a fair chance to attend the 14-day championships.
The Wimbledon ballot randomly allocates seats for Centre Court and Court 1, 2 and 3 matches. While it might be one of the most popular ways into Wimbledon, it’s still fiercely competitive.

Everything is conducted through the official Wimbledon website. Fans keen to try their luck must first sign up for a myWimbledon account.

How many tickets am I allowed to buy?
According to the Wimbledon website, each ballot application is for two tickets. If a pair of seats isn’t available, some guests will be offered two tickets for separate seats.
Additionally, applications are limited to one per household, and guests can’t specify which day or match they would like to attend.
How else can I get Wimbledon 2026 tickets?
Applicants reportedly have a one in 10 chance of succeeding in the ballot. But that isn’t the only way to obtain tickets to one of tennis’s biggest tournaments.
Central Court debentures — the All England Club’s most coveted seats — cost £116,000 for 2026-2030. No.1 Court debentures for 2022-2026 were priced at £46,000. Debentures offer a guaranteed seat over a five-year period. Dowgate Capital is the official partner for buying and selling debentures.
Additionally, hospitality packages are available to purchase from Keith Prowse. On top of a luxury dining experience at The Treehouse, guests are guaranteed courtside seats.
Prices begin at £1,145 (excluding VAT) per person.
