The other interesting sub-plot to this fixture is Kylian Mbappe as the Frenchman is in line to face his former club for the first time since leaving to join Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer.

PSG vs Real Madrid team news

William Pacho and Lucas Hernandez are suspended for Paris Saint-Germain after being sent-off against Bayern Munich in the semi-final.

As two natural left-sided defenders, their absences leave Luis Enrique with a selection dilemma. That said, Lucas Beraldo is likely to get the nod to partner captain Marquinhos in central defence.

After two substitute appearances at the tournament, scoring on his last, Ousmane Dembele will be pushing for a start at the expense of Bradley Barcola.

Real Madrid will be without summer signing Dean Huijsen after he was sent-off late on against Borussia Dortmund.

Whilst Eder Militao was on the bench for the semi-final, he is unlikely to be rushed back from his knee injury, so Raul Asencio is set to resume his central defensive partnership with Antonio Rudiger.

Mbappe is in contention to make his first start at the Club World Cup, but Gonzalo Garcia’s form doesn’t guarantee the Frenchman a start against his former club.

PSG vs Real Madrid prediction

A difficult one to call. PSG have looked imperious – barring the Botafogo loss in the group stage – throughout the tournament so far, but they didn’t have it all their own way against Bayern.

Furthermore, it will be interesting to see how they cope without Pacho – who has forged such a strong partnership with Marquinhos – against a Madrid attack that could be boosted by Mbappe’s return.

PSG are on a roll at the moment, confidence will be high and that should see them edge out Los Blancos in what will be a closely run encounter.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

The most recent meeting between these two European giants was THAT Champions League round of 16 second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu where a 17-minute Karim Benzema hat-trick saw Real Madrid produce a stirring fightback.
