Camden Council plans to extend the period when bars, pubs, restaurants and fast-food outlets can stay open without putting safeguards in place “to prevent crime and disorder” by 30 minutes.
The council is also considering scrapping rules governing the number of licensed premises within set areas.
It has launched a consultation on its draft Statement of Licensing Policy for 2025 to 2030 with a deadline of March 14.
A meeting will be held at Primrose Hill Community Centre on Tuesday (February 11) from 7pm to 8.30pm, aimed at addressing concerns about the policy .
Council officers are due to speak to residents to explain the process and the reasoning behind decisions.
Residents groups last year challenged the council at one of its meetings, after people living in Camden and Covent Garden warned of their dismay at the plans.
If changes are approved, pub opening times would be set to 12am from Monday to Thursday, 12.30 am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 11pm on Sundays.
For night clubs, music and dance venues, opening times would be extended to 2am on Saturday and Sunday.
Other changes include increased measures for venues to promote women’s safety and prevent drink-spiking.
The council says it is also proposing a pre-application advice service to improve clarity around licence applications.
