Around 100 firefighters were called to the Poundland on High Street today (October 9) at 4.30am to the blaze.
A large part of the ground floor of the two-storey terraced shop was alight, and crews contained the fire to the shop, preventing it from spreading to other buildings.
The fire was eventually under control by 8.48am, but the London Fire Brigade remains at the scene.
According to the brigade, the cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.
Hours after the fire was under control, High Street remains closed both ways between Green Lane and Maple Road – with no indication of when it will reopen.

Bromley Council says that it will remain in place “for some time to come”.
Councillor Angela Page, executive councillor for public protection and enforcement, said that the council is reaching out to support the 40 people from neighbouring properties who were evacuated to a rest centre.
There were no reports of any injuries, the London Fire Brigade said.
