The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation following the death of Franklin Francis, from Newham.
Officers were called to Palmerston Road, Forest Gate, at 3.52pm on Tuesday (November 25) after reports of a fight and found the 56-year-old unresponsive.
He was rushed to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, where he was in a “life-threatening condition”, but later passed away on Thursday (November 27).
His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Mr Francis’ family said: “Franklin was a loving member of the family whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew him.
“His absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
“We will miss him dearly every single day.”
Two men, aged 56 and 24, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remain on conditional bail as the Met’s enquiries continue.
