A yellow weather warning is in place for large parts of England, including London, and will be in place from 6am on Friday (November 14) until 6am on Saturday (November 15), with warnings that weekend travel could be affected.
Heavy and prolonged rain has been forecast to hit the capital on both days, which could lead to potential flooding for some areas.
People are being advised to check before travelling over the affected days, as the rainfall may impact rail and road travel, with some roads potentially being closed if persistent rainfall leads to flooding.
Outbreaks of rain have been forecast to hit London early on Thursday evening, becoming increasingly heavy throughout the day before easing on Saturday morning.
Widespread rainfall of up to 50mm is likely, although this could be higher in some areas of up to 80mmm of rainfall.
Along with the heavy rainfall, strong easterly winds have also been forecast, potentially bringing further disruption.
Heavy rain has been forecast beginning at midnight and lasting most of the day on Friday, and between midnight and 11pm on Saturday.
London is set to see persistent downpours from the early hours of Friday, with heavy rain continuing until midday before easing to lighter showers through the afternoon.
Conditions are expected to worsen again from around 7pm, with another spell of heavy rain lasting into the night.
Saturday will bring a much drier but overcast day, with cloud cover dominating from the early hours through to late evening.
Temperatures are set to remain cool, with highs of 14°C and lows of 10°C on Friday, dropping slightly to a maximum of 12°C and a minimum of 8°C on Saturday.
Further rain is expected moving northwards on Friday with strong easterly winds, heavy showers possible on Saturday, and a drier, brighter but cooler day expected on Sunday.
