Many people will be heading elsewhere during the festive season, and the number of people commuting will also be reduced.
Therefore, it will see key engineering work take place on services, which will result in some closures across the London Underground network.
Closures and service changes will start from December 20 and will end on January 5 2026.
So you are not caught out by TfL changes, we have rounded up all the information you need to know about the services being affected this Christmas.

All the changes to London buses and the Underground this Christmas
Tuesday 23 December
London Overground
- Weaver line – After 22:45: No service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town and Hackney Downs and Cheshunt.
- Christmas Eve – Wednesday 24 December
Buses
- Saturday service on all day routes
- Normal Wednesday service on Super Loop 6
- No night service
- No service on 24-hour routes after midnight
London Underground
- Before 20:00: Saturday service
- After 20:00: reduced service
District line – No services to Kensington Olympia.
Waterloo and City line – Before 10:00: normal service, 10:00-22:00: off-peak service and an early shutdown.
Elizabeth line – Saturday service and an early shutdown should complete your journey by 22:30.
Christmas Day – Thursday 25 December
No TfL services running, including:
- Tube (including Night Tube)
- Buses (including Night Buses)
- London Overground (including Night Overground)
- Elizabeth line
- DLR
- Trams
- River services
- IFS Cloud Cable Car
- National Rail
- Woolwich Ferry
Boxing Day – Friday 26 December
Buses
- Sunday service on all routes (day and night)
- Night service on 24-hour routes from evening onwards
- No service on routes 969 or SL6

- Reduced Sunday service from 07:00
- Central, Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines: normal Monday to Thursday end of service
- All other lines: normal Friday end of service
- No Night Tube
District line – No services to Kensington Olympia.
Waterloo and City line – No service.
Metropolitan line – No service between Rickmansworth and Amersham/Chesham.
Piccadilly line -No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge.
London Overground
No service on the Lioness, Suffragette, Weaver and Liberty lines.
Mildmay line
- Special service between Clapham Junction and Shepherd’s Bush
- First and last trains on Sundays
Windrush line
- Special service between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon
- First and last trains on Sundays

Wednesday 31 December (New Year’s Eve)
Buses
Day – Saturday day service and Route SL6 will operate a special service.
Night – Saturday night service on all 24-hour and night routes, and a small number of day routes will run overnight.
London Underground
- Reduced Saturday service
- All night running
- Stations near the fireworks event and in other busy areas of London may be exit or interchange only or have queues
District line – No services to Kensington Olympia.
Piccadilly line – No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge.
Waterloo and City line – After 23:30 – every 10 minutes and after 02:40: no service.
London Overground
Mildmay line – No service between Camden Road and Richmond, and Shepherd’s Bush.
Special service between Clapham Junction and Shepherd’s Bush – including all night running and Willesden Junction and Stratford (via Queen’s Park) – including all night running.
Lioness line – Saturday service and no overnight service.
Suffragette line – Saturday service and no overnight service.
Liberty line – Wednesday service and no overnight service
Weaver line – No service between Liverpool Street and London Fields.
Special service including all-night running between London Fields and Cheshunt, Enfield Town and Chingford.
Windrush line – No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction.
All night running between Highbury & Islington and Crystal Palace and West Croydon.
Elizabeth line – Reduced Saturday service and all-night running.
DLR – Saturday day service and all-night running, trains every 15 minutes from 00:30.
