Police were called to Lodge Lane on Sunday (February 2) at about 10.50pm to reports of a man found injured in the road.
Medics at the scene found the man, believed to be in his 40s, with stab wounds and he was taken to hospital.
He currently remains in critical condition, the Metropolitan Police said.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Lodge Lane remained closed until the next morning between Fieldway and A2022 Kent Gate Way.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at about 10.50pm on Sunday (February 2) to reports of a man found injured in the road on Lodge Lane in Croydon.
“Emergency services attended. The man, who is believed to be aged in his 40s, was found to be suffering from stab injuries.
“He has been taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. His next of kin are aware. A crime scene is in place.
“There have been no arrests and enquiries continue”.
