The Reds were pegged back in stoppage time by Leeds at the weekend, with a rollercoaster affair ending in a 3-3 draw and a share of the spoils.
Add the fact that star man Mohamed Salah gave a bombshell interview after the Leeds game, detailing that he felt that he been “thrown under the bus” by the club and that he had “no relationship” with manager Arne Slot, and it is a sticky spell that the Liverpool boss finds himself in.
Now, they travel to seasoned veterans of Europe’s top competition, and the side that are second in the Italian top flight.
Cristian Chivu’s side are fourth in the Champions League table, having won four and lost one of their five games so far.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are 13th, after three wins and two defeats.

Inter vs Liverpool team news
For Liverpool, there are two main injury absentees.
Jeremie Frimpong is the most notable, although it is unlikely he will make his return from a second hamstring niggle here.
The other is Giovanni Leoni, but the young Italian is ruled out for the season with an ACL tear.
As for Inter, there are three concerns.
Perhaps the biggest is Dutch right wing-back Denzel Dumfries, who could be in line for a return from an ankle issue to face the Reds.
Matteo Darmian, the former Manchester United full-back, is struggling with a calf problem, while defender Tomas Palacios is nearing a recovery from a hamstring injury.
Inter vs Liverpool prediction
This is a tough one to call with Liverpool’s obvious star quality, but their poor form does not augur well for a trip to the San Siro, especially against an Inter side that are in form.
The form book does not favour the Reds at all, and Inter have the nous and cohesion that could undo this vulnerable Liverpool side.
