Spurs reached the semi-finals of this competition last season, losing 4-1 to Liverpool over two legs. With Ange Postecoglou at the helm, they won the home leg 1-0 after a late winner from Lucas Bergvall, but a fateful trip to Anfield saw them exit the competition with a whimper.
Renewed under Thomas Frank, though, they will hope to go one better this campaign and reach the final at Wembley.
Their campaign starts at home, facing the Rovers for the first time since 2009.
The head-to-head makes for encouraging reading for the Spurs faithful. Doncaster have not beaten Tottenham since their first meeting, staged in December 1935.
Their most recent meeting, a Laegue Cup clash in 2009, ended in a 5-1 away win for Spurs.
Doncaster have already improved on their finish in last season’s Carabao Cup, which saw them dispatched by Everton in the second round, losing 3-0 at Goodison Park.
