There was movement in the Champions League places over the weekend as Liverpool leapfrogged Chelsea following the Blues’ 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa.
The Reds beat Brighton 2-0 to move into fourth place, but United and the chasing party are hot on the champions’ heels.
Ruben Amorim’s side are just three points off Liverpool in sixth, but are tied on 29 points with Chelsea.
The 1-0 win over Newcastle was much-needed, and has hauled the Red Devils into contention going into the new year.
They take on struggling Wolves this evening knowing that a win could see them into the top four, so long as they better Chelsea’s result and Liverpool lose.
All eyes will be on the Portuguese’s team selection this time around to see if he sticks with the winning formula he stumbled upon.
