Pep Guardiola’s side were quick off the mark in Europe this season, cruising to a 2-0 win over Napoli in their tournament opener, but were held to a 2-2 draw by Monaco the following week.
They bounced back with a 2-0 defeat of Villarreal, though, and will now face a stern test from the black-and-yellow of Dortmund, who currently sit third in the Bundesliga – already seven points adrift of runaway league leaders Bayern Munich.
It will be comfortably the toughest test of Dortmund’s European campaign so far. They beat Athletic Club and Copenhagen in earlier outings, after a dramatic 4-4 draw with Juventus.
They held their own against Bayern Munich in October’s Der Klassiker, but were undone after Jobe Bellingham’s unfortunate error gifted Michael Olise the eventual winner.
