England continue their European Under-21 Championship campaign against Slovenia today.

The Young Lions travelled to this summer’s tournament in Slovakia as the reigning champions, having outlasted Spain in a dramatic final to lift their first title for almost four decades in Georgia two years ago.

Lee Carsley’s side are fancied among the top contenders again this time around and got off to a winning start against the Czech Republic in Group B in Dunajska Streda on Thursday evening.

Marseille winger Jonathan Rowe put England back in front in the second half after Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott’s superb opening goal had been cancelled out by Daniel Fila at MOL Arena, with Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell’s effort then making sure of the three points.

They will be heavy favourites to continue that 100 per cent start at Stadion pod Zoborom in Nitra tonight against a Slovenia team who were dismissed 3-0 by confident Germany on Thursday following a stylish hat-trick from rumoured Chelsea transfer target Nick Woltemade, the Stuttgart forward.

England will be looking for another confidence boost before they face Germany in a huge tie on Wednesday that could well decide the group.
