When the two teams met in the Premier League earlier in the campaign, it was Bournemouth who inflicted a 2-1 loss on Man City which was part of five straight defeats across all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Cherries have recorded some impressive at the Vitality Stadium this season, beating City as well as Arsenal and Tottenham but they have stumbled of late, losing their last three home games in the league and required a penalty shootout to overcome Wolves in round five.
Man City, on the other hand, have only faced lower league opposition thus far. Comfortably beating Salford in the third round before coming from behind to eliminate Leyton Orient and Plymouth in rounds four and five respectively.
Guardiola’s side can certainly expect to face a step up in quality as they look to salvage a disappointing season by adding another piece of silverware to their collection, though Bournemouth will have other ideas as they eye a semi-final place.
