The figures, labelled “overall performance at end of key stage 2” by the DfE are based on the percentage of pupils meeting the expected standard as well as the percentage of pupils achieving at a higher standard.
The DfE defines a pupil as meeting the expected level if they achieve a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and maths tests, and their teacher assesses them as ‘working at the expected standard’ or better in writing.
Pupils’ average scores in reading and maths were also documented.
The best performing primary school in Havering according to the DfE data was Scotts Primary School in Bonington Road, Hornchurch with 90pc of students meeting the expected standard and 32pc achieving at a higher standard.
Pupils at Scotts averaged reading and maths scores of 110 – exceeding the expected score of 100.
Nelmes Primary School in Wingletye Lane, Hornchurch was the second highest performing primary school in the borough with 89pc of pupils meeting the expected standard and 28pc reaching a higher level.
Nelmes averaged a score of 111 in reading and 110 in maths.
Third in the rankings was Upminster Junior School in St Mary’s Lane, Upminster with 88pc of pupils performing as expected and 26pc exceeding this.
Scores of 109 were achieved in both reading and maths.
Meanwhile, Rise Park Junior School in Annan Way and Mead Primary School in Amersham Road, both in Romford, had the joint lowest percentage of pupils meeting the expected standard with 40pc.
A total of 2pc of pupils achieved at a higher standard at Rise Park Junior School and reading and maths scores of 102 and 101 respectively were achieved – both over the expected score.
No pupils at Mead Primary School achieved at a higher standard but it registered an average reading score of 103 and an average maths score of 102.
