Breakthrough Planning Ltd has had planning permission in principle refused by Havering Council for the redevelopment of Mint House in Grenfell Avenue.
An application submitted in January proposed the construction of six to eight houses consisting of a mix of three-bed, four-person and two-bed, three-person homes with associated vehicle parking and landscaping.
The authority said: “The council is not persuaded that the amount of development proposed… can be accommodated on this site and that the quantum of development is appropriate.”
The council believes the application would “lead to impacts with local character, site layout in the context of prevailing patterns of development, residential environment for future occupants and neighbouring amenity” and therefore refused planning permission on March 3.
According to an officer report, surrounding neighbours were notified of the proposal and two objections were received.
The last development proposal to be submitted at this site was also refused by the council on September 2 last year.
This proposed the demolition of existing warehouse buildings and the erection of six terraced houses.
