Teddy Kelt, 19, of Heaton Close is facing charges of three counts of robbery and two counts of attempted robbery.
It follows an investigation by the British Transport Police into reports of a robbery at Goodmayes station on December 9, where a teenager was assaulted and had their phone taken.
Further reports were received later that day of a robbery at Gidea Park station where three teenagers had been targeted and two phones were taken under the threat of violence.
An arrest followed after officers identified a man in connection with both incidents after reviewing CCTV footage and taking statements from victims.
Kelt appeared at Highbury Corner magistrates’ court on December 11 and has been remanded in custody to appear at Inner London Crown Court on January 9.
