It was a hugely underwhelming performance from Fury, the younger half-brother of former world heavyweight champion Tyson, and in early 2024 he underwent surgery on a potentially career-threatening injury that he had been battling in secret for four years – ever since his third professional bout – and said had often stopped him from using his right hand completely.
Recovered from that operation, the 26-year-old had been due to return in another crossover contest against former UFC fighter Darren Till in January, only to withdraw from that showdown due to what he said was his opponent’s threats not to adhere to established boxing rules and instead use “kicking and other stupid MMA tactics”.

Now Fury – currently based in Budapest – will finally step back between the ropes for what is only a six-rounder at cruiserweight against Hanjalic as he looks to get his career back on track and improve his unbeaten 10-0 (4 KOs) professional record.
Bosnian Hanjalic is 27 and has a pro record of five wins and one defeat, having stopped Edhem Hrustic early last month to bounce back from his sole loss to Angelo Morejon.

Fury vs Hanjalic prediction
Having not previously seen Hanjalic box, it is obviously very difficult to make a prediction of how he may be able to trouble Fury.
But it is extremely difficult to imagine that they would have picked too difficult an opponent for his first outing in more than 18 months.
Fury’s boxing career has notably stalled since his money-spinning fights with Jake Paul and KSI, and it remains to be seen if he just sees a future in those sorts of (admittedly hugely lucrative) high-profile celebrity contests or if he still wants to make a genuine push for success in the traditional sport.

Now over that lingering hand issue, he will want to make a statement return but will have so much ring rust to shake off and will no doubt be grateful just to get some rounds under his belt at long last.
We envisage a low-key contest short on fireworks in which the heavy favourite eases to a wide points win.
