The incident took place at around midday on Monday, January 6, when fraudsters targeted a victim by spraying paint on the back of their coat.
The suspects then attempted to remove the coat under the guise of helping, possibly intending to steal from them.
Officers believe the men in the images they have released may have information that could assist the investigation.
A police spokesperson said: “We’re keen to speak to these men as we believe they may be able to assist with our enquiries. If you recognise them, or have any information that could help, please get in touch.”
