The eighth annual Christmas memory train event took place on the Epping Ongar Railway on December 3.
Passengers travelled from North Weald to Ongar aboard carriages decorated with lights and filled with music, enjoying lunch and a singalong as the train passed through the forest.
Cllr Louise Mead, chairman of Epping Forest District Council, said: “The ride on the Christmas memory train was a magical and festive way to celebrate the season and meet some of our wonderful residents.

“Events like the memory train are about bringing joy, creating cherished memories and reducing isolation for those living with dementia and their loved ones.
“It’s wonderful to see the community and local businesses come together to make these events happen.”

Father Christmas made a special appearance, handing out gifts donated by the Epping Ongar Railway.
Participants received goody bags and a Christmas selection box generously donated by Epping Tesco in collaboration with Kinder Essex.
The event was organised by Epping Forest District Council’s Community and Wellbeing Team with support from Hammond and Smith Estate Agents, Sun Vit-D3, and other donors.
Volunteers from across the community helped ensure the day ran smoothly.
