The car being pursued crashed into a bin lorry on Conduit Lane at around 12.20am today (November 14).
The driver and passenger, men aged 27 and 28, were taken to hospital with “significant injuries” where their condition is being assessed.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of an offensive weapon and driving without a license.
The ambulance service reported also treating a third person at a lower priority following the crash.
Road closures remain in place and traffic is being diverted via Glover Drive.
On Conduit Lane, a closure is in place in both directions from Montagu Road to Meridian Way.
Both sides of Angel Edmonton Road and Meridian Way have been closed since around 9.20am.
Meridian Way is closed in both directions between Conduit Lane and Thornton Road.
“At approximately 00:20hrs on Friday, 14 November a collision occurred during an active police pursuit on Conduit Lane, Edmonton.
“The collision involved a car with two passengers and a waste collection lorry.
“The driver, a man aged 27, and a passenger, a man aged 28, both sustained significant injuries and were taken to hospital, where they remain.

“We await confirmation on the condition of both men.
“The driver, who remains in hospital, has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of an offensive weapon and driving without a license.
“Cordons remain at the location and traffic is being diverted via Glover Drive.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.22am today (14 November) to reports of a road traffic collision on Conduit Lane, N18.
“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and a clinical team manager.
“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“Our first paramedic arrived on scene within two minutes.
“We treated three people. We took two patients to a major trauma centre as a priority and the third patient to a local hospital.”
