Hornchurch drink driver
Jay Alborough (Image: Met Police) Jay Alborough, 37, of Avelon Road in Collier Row, was jailed after he failed a roadside breath test for the second time in just more than a year.
He was already disqualified from driving when he was caught driving a Ford Transit van without due care and attention in Wingletye Lane in Hornchurch on February 28 last year.
When breathalysed, the business owner was found to be over the alcohol limit.
For those offences he was given a 16-week prison sentence suspended for two years – meaning he would never have seen the inside of a cell if he stuck to the terms of his sentence.
But Alborough was caught behind the the wheel of a car in Springbank Avenue, Hornchurch, in April.
When breathalysed by police, he gave a reading of 59 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, far in excess of the 35 micrograms limit.
He was sentenced to 25 weeks in prison.
