Wolf’s Pub & Guest House Ltd has applied for a new club premises certificate at the Wolf’s Tavern on Evelyn Street, previously known as the Black Horse.
If approved, the establishment would be permitted to host live and recorded music and serve late-night refreshments on Fridays and Saturdays from 11pm to 2am.
Additionally, the pub has applied for an extension to its alcohol service hours.
Under the proposal, alcoholic beverages would be available for consumption on the premises from 11.30am to 11pm from Sunday to Thursday, and from 11.30am to 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The application also includes a request for seasonal variations, allowing all of the above activities to continue until 2am on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.
The application comes after the historic pub, which first opened in the 1870s or 1880s, shut its doors in December 2022.
It was officially marked as closed long-term in July 2024, leaving locals wondering what would become of the distinctive Victorian building.
The former Truman’s Brewery pub was known for its striking tiled exterior, an original 1930s Vitrolite ceiling, and an impressive centre bar according to CAMRA.
Now, residents and businesses have a chance to have their say.
If you have views on the application, you can submit a written representation to Lewisham Council’s licensing team by emailing licensing@lewisham.gov.uk. The deadline is March 28, 2025.
You can also check out the full application by booking an appointment at the Safer Communities Service on Holbeach Road.
