The club will enlarge its gym and changing facilities and construct a new grounds maintenance building at its training ground on Metropolitan Open Land (MOL) in Copers Cope Road, Beckenham.
The approval came despite some local opposition and was based on the proposal’s support for the broader sporting use of the site.
The new plans will see the demolition of the existing garage and grounds maintenance building, alongside the removal of current water tanks and silos.
Construction will include single-storey and two-storey extensions to the gym and medical block, a new grounds maintenance building, and a water tank with a pump house.
The project also includes an enlarged car park.
Councillor Alexa Michael, chairman of the Development Control Committee, said: “We were persuaded by the very special circumstances in support of this relatively modest proposal, which is also in keeping with principles established in previous planning decisions.
“We were required to focus on the material planning considerations to determine this application rather than the wider concerns.”
The decision, made on April 10, 2025, followed its deferral at a Plans Sub-Committee meeting the previous month.
