The 50-year-old victim was shot in the hand on Godric Crescent in New Addington at around 11.25pm on December 23, 2024.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and he was taken to hospital.
Although he has since been discharged, he continues to receive medical treatment due to the severity of his injury.
More than two months on, no arrests have been made, and police are now renewing their appeal for information.
Detective Inspector Martin Thomas from Specialist Crime said: “The victim was very fortunate not to sustain even more serious injuries. If he hadn’t reacted in the way that he did, this shooting could have been fatal.
“We have carried out extensive enquiries to identify the two suspects involved, and we are now appealing for your help. We know they left the scene in a car, heading north on King Henry’s Drive.
“We have also established that they frequent an address on Portland Road, South Norwood, and may have been there two days before the attack.
“I urge anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time with dashcam footage, to please get in touch. These men are dangerous, and we need to arrest them.”
The investigation remains ongoing, but officers are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the attackers.
