The emergency services attended the A232 Crofton Road this morning (July 4).
Commuters and students found the road closed by a cordon behind which was a heavily damaged Toyota Yaris.
The car is alleged to have collided with a number 61 bus.
There were no injuries with a patient leaving the scene before an ambulance crew could arrive.
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed that the crash was “damage only”.
But others expressed their frustration at the road closure and subsequent disruption to their journeys.
One 17-year-old student, Aryaan Shaikh, told News Shopper: “This morning’s crash on Crofton Road didn’t just cause delays – it completely upended the morning for hundreds of us.
“With buses diverted and the road shut, I joined dozens of students trudging to St Olave’s on foot, late and frustrated.”
He recalled other crashes on the road, expressing concern around the safety of the road.
He added: “As someone who relies on this route daily, I’ve had enough.
“Crofton Road isn’t just any street – it’s the main artery serving multiple schools and local businesses.
“Every time there’s an incident (and there are too many), the knock-on effects are massive. Today proved that yet again.”
The road has reopened and traffic has returned to normal.
