The incident happened in Church Road outside Leyton Fire Station at around 3.30pm today (April 14).
Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man who had been stabbed.
He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where his condition is unknown.
Waltham Forest Council has urged residents on X to “avoid” the area and find alternative routes if possible.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.27pm today (14 April) to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Church Road and Oliver Road, Leyton.
“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager and a paramedic from our tactical response unit.
“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”
