Cornerstone Telecommunications has outlined plans to erect a 20-metre monopole with six antennas and two 300mm dishes as well as two equipment cabinets to the area of Bostall Woods.
In the plans, Cornerstone say that this new mast would improve mobile connectivity and coverage in the area for the O2 mobile network, after a previous mast used by O2 was lost when the education facility in Bexley College became a residential site.
The proposed monopole is hoped to enhance 4G services in the area of Abbey Wood with the consultation open from March 3 to March 24.
The mast has been commissioned by O2 to be installed by Cornerstone, with the proposed site being a grass verge adjacent to the tarmac footway on the northern side of Bostall Hill near the A206 junction with Knee Hill.
The site backs onto an area of shrubs and mature trees abutting Bostall Heath to the north.
According to plans, this area was selected as the monopole would have sufficient height to give good mobile coverage, would blend in among trees, lamp posts and other tall structures, and would not be too close to any schools in the area.
As part of the consultation, Bexley Council has also introduced a consultation for locals to the area of Bostall Woods to submit feedback.
If the plans went ahead, the monopole would be installed in Bostall Woods, which sits on the boundaries between Greenwich and Bexley in Abbey Wood.
