The incident happened in Billet Lane, near to Emerson Park Overground station at around 11am today (April 15).
Paramedics attended but were soon stood down after it was decided there were no injuries.
A picture shows four cars lined up bumper-to-bumper having crashed from behind.
We have contacted Metropolitan Police for further information.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 11.01am today (Tuesday 15 April) to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Billet Lane and North Street, Hornchurch.
“We sent an ambulance crew to the scene.
“Our crew attended the scene but were quickly stood down when it was determined there were no patients needing our help.”
