Michael Course, 70, died after being hit by a car at the junction of Hurst Road and Glenhurst Avenue on June 21.
Burnt Ash Hockey Club said he would be “sorely missed” by his family and the multiple sports teams he had played for.
(Image: NQ) The club said Michael, or Mike, had moved to Bexley to be closer to his son Stephen and daughter-in-law Katy.
He was regularly seen at the club on the weekend with his grandson and was a “popular character” in the pubs of Belvedere and Bexley.

Burnt Ash Hockey Club treasurer, Katy Ovenell, wrote: “Mike will be sorely missed by his family, members of both clubs and many people in Belvedere and Bexley villages, where he was a popular character in the local pubs.”

He later played first XI cricket for Blackheath and Bexley cricket clubs, and for Erith, Balfour Beatty and Dartfordians.

Later he became heavily involved in the clubs he played for, holding committee positions and captaining Bexley Invicta.
With a friend he ran youth hockey and cricket teams, with current team members starting “under their wing”.
He continued as an active umpire at Burnt Ash up to the 2024/25 season.

At around 11pm a car crashed through a fence, fatally injuring Michael and seriously hurting a 67-year-old woman. He sadly died at the scene.
An inquest heard that said he and the woman were on the pavement when the car lost control.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Flowers and messages were left at the junction following the crash.
One message read: “Sometimes when you hear of a tragic event, words are hard to come by.
“This is such a hard time. Gone but never forgotten. Rest in peace.”
The police continue to appeal for information about the crash.

Detective Sergeant Rob Harris, from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “As our enquiries continue, we are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time.
