The borough achieved the highest rate in the capital, with 87.6 per cent of 10 and 11-year-olds securing their first choice.
This far surpasses the London average of 71.6 per cent.
Councillor Elizabeth Kangethe, cabinet member for educational attainment and school improvement, said: “I’m really pleased that Barking and Dagenham is consistently providing most of our young people with places at their first-choice secondary schools.
“The satisfaction of both the students and their parents as they prepare for this significant educational milestone, within one of their chosen schools, is deeply fulfilling.
“I couldn’t be prouder.”
The borough also excelled in the top three preferences, with 96.64 per cent of applicants securing a place compared to the Londonwide average of 90.48 per cent.
Overall, 97.94 per cent of children received an offer from one of their preferred secondary schools.
