‘I can tell you one that does Lee Anderson MP – it’s your mate Richard Tice’ Lee Anderson MP has hit out against MPs who invest in solar farms, even though his own party’s deputy leader, Richard Tice, has done exactly that.  In a post on X, Anderson said: “Makes you wonder which MPs have a financial interest in these solar farms. Putting profit before their own country.” The Reform MP for Ashfield wrote this in response to a Telegraph article in which Reform UK accused solar farm developers of “desecrating” the British countryside and pledged to cut their subsidies…

The likes of Farage and Reform criticising the work of the RNLI has backfired, leading to a surge in donations for the charity. A fundraiser to buy a new Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat named after Nigel Farage has nearly hit its £300,000 target, much to the annoyance of the right! The RNLI’s mission is to save lives at sea, and they respond to distress calls from anyone in need, including migrants crossing the Channel in small boats. That has led to criticism from the likes of Farage who have previously clashed with the charity, calling it a ‘taxi…

‘Unfortunately, there are people in power, like Mr Matthews, who use their position to undermine progress’ Reform’s new police commissioner, Rupert Matthews, has come under fire for criticising a police plan to tackle racism. Matthews, who defected from the Tories to Reform this week, called the plan an “abomination” at a Reform press conference. The Leicestershire police and crime commissioner said on Monday that the police race action plan was “a disgrace” and an “abomination”. He also claimed it meant “people should be treated differently depending on which ethnic group they came from”. “That is a disgrace and the very…

‘What a difference it could make to know that they can add their voice to the calls for change on election day’ This summer, the government set out concrete plans to lower the voting age for Westminster elections to 16. This was a manifesto commitment, and will bring Westminster elections in line with elections to the Scottish and Welsh parliaments. Supporters of votes for 16-year-olds claim that the move will engage young people with the democratic process, and give voice to a generation with worryingly low trust in politics. Opponents counter that 16 year old voters lack the maturity to…

‘X acted like petrol on the fire of racist violence in the aftermath of the Southport tragedy’ Elon Musk’s X played a key role in spreading harmful content that fuelled last summer’s far-right riots, a new report has found. The riots started in Southport, after three young girls were tragically killed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class, and misinformation spread on social media. Riots subsequently took place in other cities across the UK including London, Manchester, Liverpool and Blackpool.  A damning analysis by Amnesty International found that X’s algorithm boosts hateful and harmful content, allowing it to spread at speed. …

‘We are a gaslit nation.’ Around half of the British public are getting an essential fact about UK immigration wrong, amid attempts by the right-wing press to whip up a moral panic over the issue. A poll carried out by YouGov has found that almost half of Brits believe that most immigration to the UK is illegal rather than legal. The poll found that 47% said they believe there’s more illegal immigration rather than legal. However, the perception of almost half of Brits who believe that there is more illegal than legal migration is totally at odds with reality. According…

‘The attorney general must step in and send a formal warning to Farage that contempt of court will not be tolerated.’ Former ministers have warned that Conservative and Reform UK politicians are fuelling “hysteria and anger” over immigration in a way that could bring court trials to a halt.  At a Reform press conference on Monday, a Reform council leader said that there had been a “cover-up” in a rape case and referred to a man who has not been convicted and is awaiting trial as “the criminal”. The Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has now bowed to the pressure of…

The tables have turned… A new poll has found that less than a third of voters would now vote to leave the European Union if the Brexit referendum were repeated today, showing just how much the tables have turned since. In a sign that the public now regrets its decision to leave the EU, a survey carried out for the Times by the think-tank More in Common, found that just 29% of people would vote to leave the EU, compared with 52 per cent at the time of the referendum in June 2016. In fact, the tables have turned, with…
