Are England having a trophy parade after Euro U21 Championship final win over Germany?

England U21s made history on Saturday night as they beat Germany 3-2 after extra-time in Bratislava to retain their European U21 Championship crown.

Furthermore, this victory sees England emulate the side of 1982 and 1984 by claiming back-to-wins as Lee Carsley becomes the first England U21 manager to win consecutive U21 Euros since Dave Sexton.

Germany pulled one back on the stroke of half-time as Nelson Weiper planted a header past James Beadle before Paul Nebel completed the comeback on the hour mark with a stunning finish that did take a slight deflection off Jay Stansfield.

Nebel nearly won it for the young Germans in the last minute of the regular 90 minutes but his effort smacked against the crossbar and then Rowe did score what proved to be the winner in the second minute of extra-time.

Though England had to ride their luck once again in stoppage time when Merlin Rohl was denied by the woodwork.

Are England U21s having a trophy parade?

There have been plenty of open-top bus parades in England in recent weeks.

Tottenham celebrated with their fans in north London after winning the Europa League, Liverpool marked their Premier League title in front of massive crowds, and Crystal Palace enjoyed an FA Cup party with a bus parade and then another event at Selhurst Park.

However, there are no plans for the Young Lions to mark their Euro U21 title victory with a trophy parade, as was the case two years ago.

As confirmed by Carsley, the squad are flying back to England in the early hours of Sunday morning to begin their holidays after a long season.

“We go back to the hotel for a couple of hours and then we fly back to Birmingham at 03:30, so a quick turnaround,” he said.

“The players will be on holiday tomorrow, their time off is very important too. It is important that they maybe have a shandy or two tonight.”
