The police were called to the junction of Noel Road and the Newham Way section of the A13 around 8.30pm yesterday (June 30).
Officers arrived to find a car had crash into a bollard, street furniture, a tree and finally turned over.
Despite the 24-year-old driver managing to escape the car before the emergency services arrived, he sustained “serious” injuries.
He was rushed to hospital where he is in a life-threatening condition.
Pictures of the scene show the silver car had crashed through a fence separating the dual carriageway from Beckton District Park and bent a billboard.
The A13 was closed London-bound while a crash investigation was carried out and only reopened 12 hours later, around 8.30am the following morning.
