The roads affected are currently subject to a permanent speed limit of 40 mph, according to the Public Notice Portal.
However, if the proposed order is implemented, the speed limit will be reduced to 30 mph.
The roads affected by this proposed reduction are the A232 Croydon Road between Longdon Wood and Holdylake Drive, and the A21 Farnborough Common/Hastings Road between Park Avenue and Knowle Road.
These roads are currently classified as Greater London Authority (GLA) main roads.
The proposed changes are part of The A21 and A232 GLA Roads (London Borough of Bromley) (30 M.P.H. Speed Limit) Order 2026.
“The general nature and effect of the Order would be to impose a speed limit of 30 MPH.”
TfL intends to make the Order under section 83 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
A copy of the order, a statement of TfL’s reasons for the proposals, a map indicating the location and effect of the order, and copies of any order revoked, suspended, or varied by the order can be inspected on TfL’s website.
TfL is currently inviting objections and other representations concerning the proposed order.
These must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made.
Objections and representations should be sent to TfL’s Streets Traffic Order Team either by post or by email, quoting reference SN0/REGULATION/STOT/BS/TRO, GLA/2026/0003.
The deadline for these to be received is December 10, 2025.
It is worth noting that due to hybrid working, access to post is restricted, and requests for documents and confirmation of objections or representations may be delayed.
TfL has indicated that objections and other representations may be communicated to other persons who may be affected by the proposed order.
