The display, traditionally held on the first weekend of November and run by Welling Round Table for more than 60 years, is usually one of the borough’s most-attended community events.
But back in September, organisers announced the 2025 show would not go ahead due to delays in planning and preparations.
They said they did not feel confident they could deliver the level of event residents expect and confirmed they are instead working towards a return in 2026, promising a “bigger and better” display.
A statement uploaded on Facebook said: “As one of the largest annual events in South London, delivering Danson Park Fireworks is a huge undertaking that relies on carefully choreographed planning across many areas.
“Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, some preparations were taking longer than expected and we did not feel confident that we could deliver the 100 per cent level of enjoyment and satisfaction that local families have come to expect.”
Ticketing platform Skiddle confirmed refunds were automatically issued when the cancellation was announced.
Danson Park Fireworks is expected to return next year with an extended 14-month planning period already underway.
