Ajax have endured a miserable start to their European campaign, losing 2-0 at home to Inter Milan on matchday one before suffering a 4-0 loss at the hands of Marseille last time out.
The Dutch giants – four times winners of the competition – are now managed by John Heitinga, who was part of Arne Slot’s coaching staff at Liverpool last season, but the 41-year-old has endured a difficult start to his reign.

Chelsea vs Ajax team news
Chelsea hope to have Enzo Fernandez available for selection after the midfielder missed the win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend with a knee issue.
Ajax announced their 23-man travelling squad on Tuesday but Kasper Dolberg and Steven Berghuis have not made the trip to west London.
However, Owen Wijndal, Ko Itakura and Don-Angelo Konadu are all available. The same goes for Wout Weghorst and Davy Klaassen – formerly of Manchester United and Everton respectively.

Chelsea vs Ajax prediction
Given the nature of both teams and how they like to set-up, this fixture should guarantee goals. That said, perhaps only for one side as Ajax are yet to open their account in the competition this season.
Furthermore, Chelsea will be without the likes of Palmer and Joao Pedro which means the onus will fall on Alejandro Garnacho, Marc Guiu and Pedro Neto to ensure the hosts come out on top.
Head to head (h2h) history and results
The 4-4 draw between the two sides at Stamford Bridge in November 2019 will forever be remembered as an instant classic.
