The Garden Gate is famed for its traditional pub grub, and large flower-decked beer garden which hosts barbecues and live music in the summer.
It closed on September 22 for a what their website calls a “much-needed refurbishment.”
When it reopens on October 16 it will boast “a brand new look” including a new private space large enough to fit 100 people.
The watering hole in South End Road is part of Mitchells and Butlers’ Castle Pubs chain which also includes Hampstead’s historic Spaniard’s Inn, and The Bridge House in Little Venice.
Popular with Heath walkers and locals alike, it hosts a regular quiz and live jazz on Fridays – and serves up British pub classics, including an epic scotch egg, and Sunday roasts.

In a post on Instagram they said: “We can’t wait to see you all in the Autumn and buy all of our amazing regulars a drink.” ❤️
“After the refurb, we’ll have a BRAND NEW PRIVATE SPACE, large enough to host up to 100 people.”
With its distinctive brick and half timber exterior and stained glass windows, the pub dates back to 1874 and was previously known as The Railway.
