Ben Teacher has been quietly building a loyal local following for his kosher brasserie One Ashbourne – and it’s drawn everyone from a Bond villain to a talk show host.
Spectre actor Christopher Waltz, Hampstead Garden Suburb presenter Jonathan Ross, suburb-raised comic Sasha Baron Cohen, and Regent’s Park chef Yotam Ottolenghi are among those who have walked through the doors of the Finchley Road restaurant to sample their elegant modern European dishes.

The restaurant opened in Temple Fortune back in summer 2018 and their newly-launched The Culinary Journey is a five-course tasting menu that’s “more about flavour than white tablecloth fuss”.
The cooking boasts bold flavours, creativity, and a commitment to ingredient integrity in dishes which combine Middle Eastern spices, British classics and refined French techniques.
Think truffle arancini, sticky lamb ribs, oriental duck salad or beef tartare to start, while mains include seasonal fish and a tomahawk steak flamed at your table.
And for dessert you can try an Bramley apple crumble or dreamy Eton mess.
With its candlelit tables, mirrors, panelled walls and cosy banquettes, the pretty restaurant is also renowned for its intimate atmosphere and hospitality.
Owner Ben Teacher said: “The Culinary Journey is an opportunity to taste a little bit of everything — dishes that demonstrate both our roots and our ambitions in a way that feels intimate and truly memorable.”

One Ashbourne was recently added to the American Express Global Dining Credit list which gives cardholders £100 towards their meal at one of the leading worldwide restaurants on the list.
The Culinary Journey tasting menu costs £73 for five courses or there’s also an a la carte menu.
