Oscar Piastri’s lead in the race for a maiden Formula One world championship was cut further as he clashed with team-mate Lando Norris at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Piastri was left furious as he and Norris banged wheels on the first lap at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, bemoaning an aggressive Norris move and what he deemed an “unfair” decision for McLaren not to take action.
The Australian ended up finishing one spot behind Norris in fourth in Singapore, meaning he now leads his rival by 22 points with six rounds of the season remaining, starting at the United States Grand Prix in Austin on October 19.
Their two drivers locking horns again was certainly not the best way for McLaren to celebrate officially wrapping up a 10th constructors’ title, surpassing Williams and now trailing only Ferrari (16) on the all-time list.
