They have a point to prove in Europe, though, after being controversially demoted from the Europa League to UEFA’s third-tier competition over the summer. Kyiv, though, have touched all three levels of European competition this season, having crashed out of both Champions and Europa League qualifying after defeats to Cypriot outfit Pafos and Maccabi Tel Aviv. After finishing 34th of 36 teams in last season’s Europa League league phase, they too will be hoping to get their own back in this campaign.
