Enzo Maresca’s Londoners are bidding to become the first English team to win the Club World Cup twice, having hoisted this trophy once before by beating Palmeiras in the 2021 final.
PSG, meanwhile, are making their Club World Cup debut this year. As well as possibly etching their names in this tournament’s history, should they emerge victorious on Sunday, Luis Enrique’s crew have already surpassed their club record wins tally from 2015-16 under Laurent Blanc, their semi-final win over Real being the team’s 48th win of the season.
A win for Chelsea, who also finished runners-up in 2012, would lift them alongside Bayern Munich (2x: 2013 and 2020), Corinthians (2x: 2000 and 2012), Barcelona (3x: 2009, 2011, 2015) and Real Madrid (5x) as the only multi-time Club World Cup champions. But if they lose, the Blues will be the first team to fall twice at the tournament’s final hurdle.
Date, kick-off time and venue
Chelsea vs PSG is scheduled for a 8pm BST kick-off on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
The match will take place at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Maresca faces various selection headaches on Sunday, as both Liam Delap and Levi Colwill will again be available after serving suspensions in the semi-final.
Prior to missing Tuesday’s win over Fluminense, Delap had started every match since matchday two, displacing Nicolas Jackson as Chelsea’s starting striker before the Senegalese was sent off against Flamengo.
Joao Pedro starred in the semi-final after starting in Delap’s enforced absence, scoring a brace on his full Chelsea debut, and could get the nod again on Sunday.
Colwill has started four of the five Club World Cup matches in which he has been available, and is therefore expected to slot back into Maresca’s backline.
Trevoh Chalobah, who was paired with Colwill in both the quarter-final and Chelsea’s second group stage, could partner him after impressing in the semi-final, while Tosin Adarabioyo is also an option.
Romeo Lavia missed the semi-final with a muscle injury, but Reece James was back in action, appearing off the bench in the second half. Whether he is fit enough to start the final over Malo Gusto remains to be seen.
Moises Caicedo faces a race against time after picking up an ankle injury against Fluminense. He received treatment on the pitch and was later forced off in injury time, leaving Chelsea with 10 men to finish the match.
PSG should welcome back both William Pacho and Lucas Hernandez after the two defenders missed Wednesday’s semi-final win over Real due to suspensions from the previous match.
Ousmane Dembele will be pushing for another start, having been resigned to bench duty for much of this tournament while he recovered from injury. Bradley Barcola is the most likely to be benched should Dembele be chosen to lead the line, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the left and Desire Doue on the right.
Otherwise, PSG’s usual midfield of Joao Neves, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz picks itself, as do Achraf Hakimi at right-back, Marquinhos in central defence and the towering Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal.
Chelsea vs PSG prediction
There will be plenty of nervous hand-wringing in the Chelsea camp ahead of the Club World Cup final. PSG are a formidable opposition at the best of times, and showed not even the faintest signs of weakness as they mercilessly picked Real Madrid apart. Chelsea have their work cut out for them.
In a positive for the Blues, they seem to have improved steadily in each of their matches at the tournament, but their run to the final has been nowhere near as challenging as their opponents.
It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to pick out a weakness in PSG. They are rock solid at the back, fluid in midfield, ruthless in attack. Gianluigi Donnarumma is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment, and the squad’s depth is an embarrassment of riches.
Chelsea will have to be at their absolute best if they are to come away from the final with silverware in hand. Even that, though, may not be enough.
Head to head (h2h) history and results
Chelsea haven’t faced PSG since 2016, when the two sides met in the last-16 of the Champions League. Les Parisiens won both of those matches 2-1, and triumphed over the Blues on away goals at the same stage the previous season.
