Park Road was closed off for at least over eight hours after a car hit a pedestrian yesterday (July 2) at 4.14pm.
The car failed to stop at the scene, police have said.
Medics treated the pedestrian, a man in his 20s, at the scene before he was taken to hospital, where he remains.
No arrests have been made but police continue to investigate.
People in West Hendon Playing Fields saw an air ambulance land on the green space before 4.30pm following the hit and run.
An air ambulance at West Hendon Playing Fields (Image: Contributor) A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “At 16:16hrs on Tuesday, 2 July officers were called to the scene of a road traffic collision involving a car which failed to stop and a pedestrian in Park Road, Hendon.
“The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service for life-changing injuries. He remains in hospital.
“No arrests have been made at this stage. The investigation is ongoing, if you have any information please contact the Met via 101, quoting 6173/1JUL.”
