Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa all won, as Newcastle lost again, which means the top-five race will go down to the final day. City can all but confirm a top-five finish by beating Bournemouth, but any slip-up could prove catastrophic.

Bournemouth beat City in the reverse fixture earlier this season, which was the first time they had ever come away with points from a Premier League meeting with the club. Could they repeat the trick?

Date, kick-off time and venue

Man City vs Bournemouth is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

The match will take place at the Etihad Stadium, in Manchester.

Man City vs Bournemouth team news

Kevin De Bruyne will surely start his final home game as a City player, but other spots are less secure. The likes of Jeremy Doku and Savinho failed to impress so could make way for the likes of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

Mateo Kovacic could miss out due to a knock as Rodri returns to training, though the Ballon d’Or winner is not expected to feature on Tuesday. Rico Lewis and James McAtee were surprise absentees from the squad at Wembley – will they be thrown in?

Bournemouth should bring Justin Kluivert back in to support Evanilson. Centre-back Dean Huijsen is set to join Real Madrid in a few weeks, but is expected to again start for the Cherries. Alex Scott is out for the season after undergoing surgery on a broken jaw following a horror tackle from Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings.

Man City vs Bournemouth prediction

City will need to pick themselves up and quickly after their FA Cup final disappointment, and will know Bournemouth will prove no pushovers. Anything less than an immediate return to winning ways will make Sunday’s top-five showdown even tougher.

You would normally have no worries about Guardiola’s teams of years past getting the job done, but this one is made of weaker stuff.

Bournemouth have somewhat recovered from their wobble of February to April to lose just one of their last six games, but are still not as convincing as earlier in the season. Taking more points off City will prove a big task, but not out of the question.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

City’s perfect Premier League record against Bournemouth ended with a 2-1 loss at the Vitality Stadium earlier this season.
