Brent Cross junctions set for major TfL repair works

Transport for London (TfL) plans to carry out work on 25 bridges in the area, including to the A41 Brent Cross flyover.

The flyover is currently subject to a 7.5 tonne weight restriction to ensure the safety of the structure.

TfL says that while the flyover does not pose “any immediate risk” to drivers, the restrictions avoid any further damage to the bridge ahead of the renewal work.

In a new report released earlier this month, transport bosses confirmed that they were still awaiting funding approval from the Government to carry out the project.

However, if given the go ahead, work on the project could begin in early 2026.

Other short term measures introduced in recent years include propping works to the slip road at the Brent Cross A41 and A406 junction.

The slip road was closed for three months at the end of last year for the work to be carried out, reopening again in mid-December.

The interchange at Brent Cross is used by more than 120,000 drivers a day.

It connects the A406 and A41 and is made up of the A41 flyover and a gyratory above the A406, which also provides access to the M1 North and the A5.
