Officers attended the incident on Three Arch Road near East Surrey Hospital in Redhill yesterday (February 26).
A 57-year-old man died at the scene and nobody else is thought to have been involved.
The nature of the incident is not known.
The South East Coast Ambulance and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service also attended and the main entrance to the hospital was closed.
A diversion was set up and emergency access to the hospital was maintained.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended Three Arch Road near East Surrey Hospital in Redhill yesterday (Wednesday, 26 February) following a concern for safety.
“South East Coast Ambulance and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance. Sadly a 57-year-old man died at the scene.
“There is not believed to be any third-party involvement.
