Detailed plans for 238 new homes at Bellway London’s Legacy Wharf development, across seven blocks from six to 14 storeys high, are due to be submitted to Newham Council in the spring.
Bellway London has already secured planning permission to build 105 new apartments as part of the third and final phase of the regeneration project, and outline permission for the 238 homes off Barbers Road.
Permission for the hybrid application was issued in November following referral to the Mayor of London and the signing of a planning agreement.
The detailed plans for the 105 apartments include 84 ‘affordable’ homes as well as new public space with provision for a street level café and additional commercial space.
Construction work on this part of the project is due to start in spring 2026.
Will Weston-Smith, land director for Bellway London, said: “Securing planning approval for phase three unlocks the final land parcel for our redevelopment scheme at Legacy Wharf.
“We are extremely proud of this project in which we are transforming a former industrial brownfield site to create a sustainable new neighbourhood as part of the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics.
“We can now progress with our plans to build the 105 homes which have detailed planning permission.
“As part of the planning agreement for phase three, we are set to contribute more than £569,000 towards improvements to local infrastructure and services as well as £3.6 million through the community infrastructure levy.”
Bellway London plans to build a total of 735 new apartments at Legacy Wharf across three separate phases.
The 196 new properties in phase one have been all built and sold.
In phase two, the first selection of the 196 homes being built were released for sale in September 2024.
